How to Ensure Your Laundromat Is Safe for Customers

Aspen MatiasBy Aspen MatiasMay 13, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Customer safety should be a top priority. Not just to retain them as repeat clients but also to avoid legal issues. If someone is harmed on your premises, you might be legally liable if reasonable safety measures weren’t in place. Understanding everything you need to maintain safety in your Continental Girbau laundry business can be challenging—especially if you don’t know where to begin. You are also super busy with profit-generating activities.

To help avoid preventable safety issues in your laundromat, here are four easy and budget-friendly ways to boost security.

Get rid of slip and fall hazards.

No laundromat owner wants to see a customer slip on a wet floor and injure themselves. Not only can it hurt customer loyalty, but the victim can slap your business with a slip-and-fall claim if there is any negligence. What are the best ways to eliminate the risk? For one, clear signage of “wet floor” should be placed as soon as major leaks occur. Signs are a great way to inform your customers of potential slipping hazards. Ensure your cleaning staff is on standby to instantly wipe out spills and remove any other slipping hazards from the floor. Other slip and fall risks include cracked tiles, poor lighting, cluttered pathways, and torn carpeting.

Invest in safety equipment

Besides getting new Continental Girbau laundry equipment, you should consider investing in safety-related items like fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and smoking detectors. While the probability of fire in your premises is low, a breakout can be devastating. The event is less likely to happen, but there’s no harm in being ready to protect your business and customers when the risk occurs. You can also implement a fire safety plan that informs everyone within your premises of the procedures to follow in case of a fire.

Install security cameras.

Another way to keep your business, staff, and customers safe is by installing security cameras. They provide an extra layer of security and can help deter criminal activity. You discourage criminal activities when you install CCTV cameras and post signs on your premises stating that the laundromat is under surveillance. And if theft occurs, the video evidence increases the chances of catching the burglars. This can, in turn, make customers feel safer.

Ensure your premises are well lit

Customers who can see where they are going are less likely to trip on objects, step on a slippery floor, or fall when going down the stairs. Adequate lighting ensures people can easily navigate different sections in your laundromat. It’s much easier for customers to see slip-and-fall hazards in a sufficiently illuminated space. You can improve natural lighting with windows and bright lights by replacing bulbs that get dimmer over time. If your premise is large and has a parking lot, ensure it is well-lit.

Customers are the lifeblood of your business. Minding their safety is one of the things you can do to care about their well-being. To achieve that, keep your floor clean and tidy. This eliminates slipping hazards like cluttered pathways and spills. Enhancing lighting, installing CCTV cameras, and investing in fire safety equipment are other ways to add a layer of security to your laundry business.
